Samsung is set to unveil its Galaxy S25 smartphones in early 2025. Recent leaks and information about the upcoming flagship models have created significant confusion, particularly regarding the choice of processors for the devices.
Exynos or Snapdragon: The ongoing debate
The back-and-forth regarding the chip selection for the upcoming Galaxy S25 smartphones continues. Months ago, reports suggested that only the Galaxy S25 Ultra would feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor. Recently, however, positive news emerged indicating that Samsung had allegedly changed its strategy. It was reported that all Galaxy S25 models would receive the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, with the Exynos chip being relegated to foldable phones. Now, there are signs pointing to the opposite.
According to SamMobile, an unknown device featuring the Exynos 2500 chip and high-end specifications has been spotted. This device is believed to be a Galaxy S25 model. However, it’s also possible that this could be an Exynos reference design utilizing the new Exynos 2500 processor. As a result, what seemed clear after the latest news is now once again uncertain.
The Galaxy S25 smartphones could all be equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. Alternatively, the situation could mirror that of the current models, where the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Plus might receive the Exynos 2500, while only the Ultra model gets the superior Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.
Galaxy S25 Ultra: A new look on the horizon
The Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to undergo significant visual changes compared to the current model. Initial images and a video suggest that Samsung is drawing inspiration from Apple for the frame design. Google has already taken a similar approach with its Pixel 9 phones. It will be interesting to see which direction Samsung takes with the new generation.
