The smartphones from Samsung and Xiaomi are very popular in Germany. However, a new competitor is rising, giving these industry giants some serious competition. This young brand’s devices are becoming increasingly popular.

More smartphones are being sold again, with the German market growing by a solid 10 percent in the first quarter of 2024 compared to the previous year, according to researchers from Canalys. Nothing Phone 1, the best-selling phone of the Nothing brand

In the first half of 2024, Nothing reported a 246 percent growth in smartphone sales compared to the previous year, citing data from Canalys on X (formerly Twitter). Germany has become the brand’s second-fastest-growing market. The second quarter of 2024 was particularly successful, with Nothing’s smartphone sales increasing by 693 percent compared to the previous year. What makes these smartphones so appealing?

Nothing phones: A hit with design and value for money

The success of Nothing’s smartphones is likely driven by two factors: value for money and their unique design. Nothing uses a transparent back panel with LED lighting on its devices, which the company calls the Glyph interface. These LEDs can serve as status indicators or blink in sync with your music. Despite their distinctive appearance, Nothing smartphones are available from as low as €329.

Additionally, the company has launched a sub-brand called CMF by Nothing, which has also started selling phones in Germany. These models are priced below €250. Although the CMF Phone 1 lacks the Glyph interface, it still boasts an unmistakable design. The phone can be enhanced in functionality using accessories, thanks to a built-in rotary dial.
