Appleās iPhone 16 series introduces faster charging capabilities, with up to 45 watts now possible. This is a significant upgrade from the previous iPhone models, although Apple has not publicly highlighted this improvement.

Apple’s iPhones have historically lagged behind other smartphones in terms of charging speed. The iPhone 15 models from 2023 maxed out at 29 watts. However, the new iPhone 16 models are capable of charging much faster through a wired connection.
According to documents from the China Quality Certification Centre, as reported by 9to5Mac and others, all iPhone 16 models will support charging speeds of up to 45 watts. This marks a 50 percent increase over the iPhone 15 series.
Apple has not officially announced this substantial boost in charging speed. Wireless charging on the new iPhone 16 models is supported via a new Magsafe charger, delivering up to 25 watts. In the past, Apple has also been quiet about technical specifications, such as battery capacity or the size of the RAM.
Apple’s focus on intelligence at the presentation
During the launch of the iPhone 16 series, Apple emphasized new software features, particularly those centered around artificial intelligence (AI). These features are designed to make daily tasks easier for users, much like AI-driven functions on other smartphones. The hardware improvements on the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro were relatively minimal.
However, these AI features will not be available at launch. They are expected to roll out with the beta version of iOS 18.1 in October 2024. In Germany, many of these AI functions will not initially work, as Apple is focusing on users in the U.S. with the system set to English. More languages and countries will be supported starting next year.
