Huawei has unveiled the world’s first dual-folding smartphone, the Mate XT. This revolutionary device combines three devices in one, offering a unique folding experience. The Mate XT is set to launch soon in China with an extremely high price tag.

Huawei’s groundbreaking innovation
While major manufacturers like Samsung, Xiaomi, and Google focus on single-fold smartphones, Huawei has taken a leap forward with its dual-folding device. The Mate XT features a continuous 10.2-inch display that can be folded into a 6.4-inch smartphone when fully closed. Folding only one half creates a 7.9-inch device, similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6. This innovative design effectively combines three devices in one body.

Technical specifications and features
The Mate XT boasts an OLED panel with a resolution of 2,232 × 3,184 pixels, utilizing LTPO technology for adaptive refresh rates. While Huawei has not disclosed the specific chip used, the device comes with 16 GB of RAM and storage options of 256 GB, 512 GB, or 1,024 GB.
Weighing 298 grams, the Mate XT is relatively heavy. However, it measures just 3.6 mm at its thinnest point, expanding to 12.8 mm when fully folded. The weight may be noticeable during everyday use as a standard smartphone.

Huawei hasn’t compromised on camera quality, equipping the Mate XT with a 50 MP main sensor, a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 12 MP periscope zoom. An 8 MP front-facing camera is also included. Combined with optimized software, the image quality is expected to be impressive.
The device’s 5,600 mAh battery is distributed across all three sections. While this capacity might be tight for such a large display, the Mate XT supports 66W wired fast charging, 50W wireless charging, and 7.5W reverse wireless charging. The smartphone runs on HarmonyOS 4.2.

Pricing and availability
The Huawei Mate XT will initially be available in China starting September 20th, with hefty price tags:
- 16 GB RAM and 256 GB storage: 19,999 Yuan (2,545 Euro)
- 16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage: 21,999 Yuan (2,799 Euro)
- 16 GB RAM and 1 TB storage: 23,999 Yuan (3,054 Euro)
While extremely expensive even in China, the Mate XT offers a unique smartphone experience unmatched by any other manufacturer. Its availability in Europe and other parts of the world remains uncertain, and if released, it would likely come with an even higher price tag. Further updates on international availability will be provided as information becomes available.
