Since the announcement of Huawei’s HarmonyOS NEXT system, people have been paying close attention to the new operating system. As the first major version of HarmonyOS to abandon the Linux kernel and Android Open Source Project (AOSP) code, supporting only HarmonyOS kernel and applications, it has been dubbed “pure HarmonyOS” by many. On September 15, a blogger shared new information about this “pure HarmonyOS.”
This tech blogger posted that the update speed of HarmonyOS NEXT Beta version has been surprisingly fast lately, with new updates coming even before they could finish editing their blog posts. Additionally, they revealed that the new systems for Huawei P70 and Huawei Mate60 are not entirely identical, with some differences in their web kernels.
Reports state that Chen Xinxin, the general manager of Huawei’s HarmonyOS industry solutions, disclosed at the 2024 China International Fair for Trade in Services that the official version of Huawei’s “pure” HarmonyOS NEXT will be released at the end of September this year. Notably, JD.com officially announced a few days ago that the official version of JD’s HarmonyOS native application is planned to be launched in September, indirectly confirming the September release of HarmonyOS NEXT’s official version.
Currently, Huawei is conducting internal testing of the new system and launched a large-scale recruitment of HarmonyOS NEXT Beta version users last month. According to information shared by bloggers participating in the testing, HarmonyOS NEXT has extremely high fluidity and currently covers most mainstream daily applications, with minimal impact on daily use. Leaked information suggests that Huawei’s flagship new device for the second half of the year, the Mate70 series, is likely to debut with HarmonyOS NEXT.
